E-commerce. Mobile applications are on the rise

Oct, 2020 | Global Retail News

The use of shopping through mobile applications is spreading alongside the explosion of e-commerce. Globally, the installation of e-commerce applications increased by 25% in Q2 2020 compared to Q1. According to a study by AppsFlyer, a mobile allocation and marketing analysis platform, this shows a rise of 80% in the U.S. between February and May 2020 and 35% in Europe between March and May 2020. As rules for social distancing and health regulations are increasingly strict, mobile applications enable retailers to offer consumers improved shopping experience. An example is Target (turnover 2019 US$75.4 billion), Walmart’s competitor in superstores. The Drive-Up mobile application for click & collect allows customers to track orders in real time and alert store staff when they are arriving to collect their orders.
